Useful Zero Waste Guidance from SEPA

SEPA has recently produced two really useful guidance documents for businesses.

The first one is What is your duty of care?  Every organisation and business has a duty of care for the waste they generate. The information includes advice to businesses to store waste securely, transfer only to an authorised carrier and to complete (and keep) a waste transfer note. It also provides five easy steps to help you fulfil the new duty to segregate dry recyclables and food waste.

The second document is Guidance for businesses that require customer participation to segregate materials for recycling which aims to help businesses comply with their legal responsibility to segregate materials for recycling.

It includes useful advice for businesses that rely on their customers putting waste material in collection containers within their premises, such as caravan sites and shopping centres. It suggests the type of recycling facilities and information which should be available to their customers.
